The Federal Council began the consultation procedure on the preliminary draft of the new Patents Act on 14 October 2020. By the end of the procedure on 1 February 2021, 63 comments had been received. A clear majority of the participants agreed with the general thrust of the preliminary draft but suggested changes to some points. In principle, they welcomed the modernisation of the patent examination procedure.
