Swissreg – IP rights database and publication organ

In Swissreg, you can quickly and easily access all the trade marks, patents, designs, supplementary protection certificates and emblems that are protected in Switzerland. Swissreg also keeps you up to date on new applications and changes to the register. Moreover, you can manage your IP rights and applications via the database.

Which trade marks, inventions and designs are protected in Switzerland? By whom? And for how long? Ask Swissreg: the database contains all public information on trade marks, designs, patents and supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) that are active, that have been newly registered and that have been cancelled in Switzerland. It also provides information on signs protected in Switzerland and abroad, such as coats of arms and abbreviations.

Swissreg is an instrument for preliminary information. Use it, for example, for initial clarifications of existing rights or for inspiration. On the other hand, if you need a complete and reliable basis for decision-making – for example on the state of the art or to check that your trade mark does not conflict with other trade marks – we recommend that you commission professional patent searches or trade mark searches.

Further information on the individual databases can be found on the trade mark databasepatent database, design database, SPC / paediatric SPC database and emblems pages as well as in the help texts accessible via the databases.

Official organ of publication

The IPI publishes new registrations and changes to the register with legal effect via Swissreg. You can search for these publications using the ‘Publications’ search mask. You can also activate monitoring to be automatically informed about new publications.

Please note that the information in Swissreg is not legally binding. Only the information in the IP rights registers that we manage is legally valid. If you require register extracts, we will be happy to send them to you.

Manage your IP rights online

As an owner or representative, you can use Swissreg to easily apply for register changes or international trade mark protection for your applications and registered IP rights.

You can enter these requests as a guest. However, we recommend opening a user account. This is more convenient and gives you more options: you can view all your entries at any time, you can enter register changes directly for several IP rights, and you do not need any official documents of evidence.

You can also access other online services, such as e-trademark, via the menu of the databases.
