Revision of copyright law

The internet has fundamentally changed how society engages with culture. Films, music, novels, historical photographs and books – from current to long gone – almost everything is now available online. In order to adapt copyright law to respond to developments in technology and to best utilise the opportunities offered by digitalisation, Parliament approved a series of amendments to modernise the Copyright Act on 27 September 2019. The amendments aim to simultaneously strengthen the position of creative artists and improve public access to works. They take into consideration the partially conflicting interests of all parties involved in the revision in a balanced manner. The new Copyright Act came into force on 1 April 2020.
