New directive for the supervision of the collective rights management organisations

The IPI has reviewed its supervision of the collective rights management organisations (CMOs) together with external risk and compliance experts and made it more target-oriented.

On 1 July 2024, the new IPI directive for the supervision of the collective rights management organisations came into force. The new provisions allow the IPI to carry out its supervision effectively and in an up-to-date manner. The CMOs’ annual reports have been standardised and systematically geared towards the analysis of their specific risks. Supervision has been significantly enhanced with respect to the principles and rules on how a company should be managed, administered and controlled (corporate governance).

The new directive replaces the directive of 29 November 2017 and will be gradually implemented, starting with the CMOs’ reports for the 2023 financial year.
